Pain in the groin when walking, a pulling sensation on the outside of the hip when lying down, or stiffness after getting up: hip pain often develops gradually – and leads all too quickly to a diagnosis of "wear and tear." At our practice in Zurich, we treat the root cause of hip complaints using Liebscher & Bracht and Winback Tecar, so you can walk pain-free again.
Hip pain usually manifests as groin pain when walking or standing up, as pain on the outside of the hip (especially at night when lying on your side), as stiffness when starting to move after sitting, as limited mobility when putting on socks, or as pain radiating into the buttocks and thighs. This is often diagnosed as hip osteoarthritis – but the pain itself frequently originates from overloaded muscles.
If you have a fever, a significant increase in nighttime pain, or have suffered a fall, your hip should be medically evaluated first.
The main antagonist of the hip is our sedentary daily life: in a seated position, the hip flexors shorten over the years. When standing and walking, these shortened muscles and fascia pull the femoral head into the joint socket with enormous force – joint pressure increases, the surrounding muscles tense up, and the groin hurts.
From the Liebscher & Bracht perspective, this over-tension is the actual driver of pain – not the cartilage alone. That is why people with advanced hip osteoarthritis can live almost pain-free once the muscular-fascial tensions are normalized.
With osteopressure, we treat the pressure points on the pelvis, groin, and thigh to reduce the excessive tension in the hip flexors and gluteal muscles. The pressure in the hip joint decreases, walking becomes easier – often noticeably so after just the first few sessions.
Targeted stretching exercises specifically lengthen the shortened hip flexors and the surrounding muscle chains. They directly counteract the effects of a sedentary lifestyle and keep the joint permanently relieved.
The hip joint lies deep beneath powerful muscle layers – this is exactly where Winback Tecar therapy shows its strength: the radiofrequency energy generates heat deep into the hip and gluteal muscles, improves blood circulation in the tissue near the joint, and makes hardened fascia supple. In cases of hip osteoarthritis, it can increase mobility and soothe irritation.
The combination – double the effectiveness: Deep heat combined with osteopressure relieves the hip joint from two sides – tension decreases, and the tissue regenerates. Many patients regain their walking distance and quality of life without surgery.
When walking, the hip flexors, which have been shortened by sitting, need to lengthen – if this doesn't happen, the pressure in the joint increases and the groin hurts. We treat this exact shortening with osteopressure, deep heat, and targeted stretching exercises.
Yes. The pain associated with hip osteoarthritis often originates from over-tensed muscles, not from the cartilage alone. If the tension is reduced, the symptoms often subside significantly – even in cases of advanced osteoarthritis.
In many cases, causal treatment can restore enough pain-free movement and mobility that surgery is no longer necessary or can be postponed significantly. We will provide you with an honest assessment after your initial evaluation.
